i think the first thing to do is go to start-run and type in inetmgr and make sure that iis is running. other than that try delete all history, cookies from ie (i presume that you are using ie). also when typing in localhost leave out the index.asp part, and try using your computer name instead of localhost. it may be that index.asp is not in a folder allowed by iis to run scripts so it will not display.
