Hey, Kevin,

To a large degree, it all goes back to the business requirements. In some applications, there may be value in determining entries that were not made by a user.

As an example, a survey or quotation system may need to generate stats based on NULL entries. I agree, it's more work, but after doing it a time or two, you get the hang of it.
