Your first message said SQL Server, not Firebird so that's what I based my reply on. I don't have Firebird available to be able to tell you what to do there. I know that others have used it and they may be able to give you more help.

If you have a lot of data to move I'd recommend you use a BCP process rather than remote views. BCP is a couple of orders of magnitude faster.
