There are no indices on these tables at all, which might be the problem. However, if i add an ID column of type Integer and index on that after filling it with a sequential number like RecNo(), I still get the same thing

Previously I've selected SQL server via a WebService and manipulated this data before passing it back. I will try that this morning as there may be something in the DataStet passed back that I'm not adding to my pure VFP DataSet

back to the drawing board, but thanks for replying :)
