The VFP team has done a lot of work on the combo base class over the years and resolved loads of issues. I remember, back in VFP 3, we had to write our own code to handle combos that were bound to numeric controlSources - they added the BoundTo property in version 5 so that this would be handled automatically. I can't remember which version of VFP it was - 3 or 5 - where the combo box would crash VFP if it has more than 253 elements and you selected element 253. This got fixed too ( although my personal opinion is that putting over 200 items in a combo box is bad UI design, but that is another story < s > ).

ComboBox have a bug ( with this a VFP application show a not professional raw appearance)
not fixed in VFP9:

- focus on combo
- press down the righ Mouse buttom and hold down it,
- go up the combo listbutton, 
- move the mouse under the combo, on the list area ( the list don't appear )
----  a lot of When events is fired
- now open the list, and close the list
- repeat the Righ Mouse Hold moving trace,
    THE LIST IS NOT SHOWED,
    THE DROPDOWN EVENT IS NOT FIRED
    WHEN,INTERACTIVECHANGE,PROGRAMMATICCHANGE IS FIRED IN SEQUENCE
    AND THE COMBOBOX VALUE LOAD THE GOST LIST ITEMS WHERE THE MOUSE IS MOVED.

If a your customer asks you to arrange this "gost selection",
I would be happy for seeing the your solution.
