I was speaking to Ken Levy at OzFox and he stated that he VFP exams were discontinued because there simply weren't enough people taking the exam. He quoted the number that took the exam for the previous 12 months - it was either 50 or 100 worldwide (I can't remember exactly). Not many.

It was basically not worth it financially for MS to keep the exam.
