Barbara,
It's the network I think. But I don't know how to really show it's network. Maybe with a simple routine in front of network admin's eyes. Select a large table and use it excl than index on any expression from a station. I think it will stop with "File read error" (at least happened to me). The same routine runs perfect if files are on a station or directly run from NT. BTW mine was a 10 Mbit network and IDE disk on NT. I think it's related with NT caching and paging but currently doesn't have a solution.

>>I don't believe it can be the newtwork. Considering the other weird bug you have, I would say that something's wrong with the computer (the CPU or the memory).

>>In both problems, it looks like the CPU executes a command before the previous one ends, or, it skips lines of code.

>>If the problem appears on only one computer, try to see what happens if you use it with the cover off. If it's an overheated CPU, this may help to cool it down and to make it work. Look also at the CPU fan... Overheated CPUs have really weird behaviors. Sometimes, a system may work for weeks before noticing the overheat problem.

>>>Our VFP5 system occasionally will load a form but NOT load all the tables in the DataEnvironment. Or, worse, it will load a DBF but not load the corresponding CDX. This happens on random forms, at random times, and on different tables for any form. We have shown this is the case with 'Display Status' - Tables are missing or are loaded without their CDX. The next time the user loads the form, it's OK.
>>>
>>>Needless to say, the users are complaining, the Network Admin says it's VFP and I'm out of ideas. I have put in loops to check for Used(EachTable), but this works for tables only. If necessary, I'll add something to the error checker for the CDXs, but a missing CDX results in several different errors depending on code.

>>>WinNT network, all workstations running WIN95 with 32MB RAM or more. This is definitely related to how busy the network is, when you match usage with the errorlogs.
