My regular trick to get the grid in order when the order of records changes is to GO to whichever record I want, lockscreen the form, refresh the grid, setfocus to anything else on the form, set focus back to grid, lockscreen off.

As for putting your record to the middle, grid.doscroll(0) about rowcount/2 times.
