You seem to have 2 threads going on this topic? From this it sounds like you're not having the problem with Short date, so I doubt my suggestion for that won't suit you. I think you'll find keypress to be far more difficult than just checking the entry in the valid of the text box.

Whether or not VFP 9 adds the ability for you to have your own SET NOTIFCY message, I can't say.
