>>Ok then, why I jumped in. See Re: Text box tooltip Thread #977082 Message #977141. My reaction was first and for all directed to Reza Meamar. I wanted to make sure that he doesn't get the idea that m.this is the standard. IMO, ignoring things is not always appropriate behavior.

Martin,

Good you bring this point to our attention.

IMO, a key phrase in your first line is 'every time'. Indeed, if it was done "every time", then it would demotivate many of us to give solutions. Another key phrase is "that doesn't match our's". Indeed, if comments were primarilly given when something was done in a way that doesn't match our own way of doing things, then it would be a harsh forum, too harsh IMO.

But having said that, that hopefully doesn't imply that you favor the following rule:

We are never allowed to start pointing when another one sends a solution with some personal coding style, not even if it doesn't match standards, not even if it is a disputable style in the eyes of many.

I hope you understand that I favor a position in between: Sometimes it is better to not react, other times a reaction is more appropriate. Who wants to be the judge on whether it was an appropriate reaction? Not me (in case it is about someone else). I would either want to participate with arguments or ignore it.

About Reza. I don't underestimate him at all. But indeed I think that he's not yet a very experienced vfp-developer and he therefore could use that one more advise.

About your 'avoid commenting code'. No, I would not criticize you for that at all, of course not. But Fabio, OTOH, sometimes gives the impression to be on a mission, in search of disciples. I thought it was wise in this case to let Reza know that m.this is not propagated by many.

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
