>Then you're losing some of the capabilities of source control. VFP is slow because it converts to/from the text file when you check in/out. If you don't do it through VFP you check in/out the binary files, which greatly increases your storage space. With text files, VSS & PVCS both store just the delta code.

i'm not currently concerned about space. these projects are 2 or 3 years old and i'm trying to get the various copies floating around under control. after we're all reading the same sheet of music (and after the network is upgraded so we don't have time to read these while loading forms), i'll think about it.
