Is there any way to change the default locations for the .mdf and .ldf files when creating a new database? I know you can change it per database in the CREATE DATABASE command, but if possible I would like to change the default location on the server, so don't have to specify the file paths every time I create a new database.

I suspect the answer is no. I can't find anything that allows me to do this.
