I also was having the same issues. After reviewing the actual code inside the typed DataSet (such as the embedded SQL statements that sometimes appear), I want a "slim down" typed dataset and just started to develop my own subclassed version of DataSet - I planned on developing a custom code generator for creating the dataset.

But in the last week I have starting to read a new book ("Advance Business Object in C#) that walks thru the CLSA framework creation. The author mays a very good case against using DataSets. I'm rethinking...
