on the long run VFP tabels are not a good solution.
2 GB File limit no real securety.

Depending on your budget and time I would consider a real backend database like SQL Server and use VFP 9 as a front end. (more expansive !!!!)

If you use one of the systems like Visual extend or Maxframe that will help you th make the aplication switchable between VFP tabels and SQL Server

Be aware that SQL server programming is very different than VFP local programming. It has a long learning (cost) curve. But if you have larger clients it makes a lot of sence.

We did this It took us 2 years to get it working
APP has 400 tabels and ist managend by XCASE

No way on SQL server and VFP without XCASE !!!!!!

No more Novel server !!!
