I see Jon is giving you something useful to think about, however would an alternative approach be to enable your data entry form to be used as a QBE (query by example) tool ?

There have been articles on doing this in FoxPro Advisor in the past.

I'm a bit dubious about your project. I was extensively involved in two such conversions in New Zealand last year. The first was FoxPro for Windows code operating under VFP6, and the other was the conversion of a VFP6 application to VFP8 and SQL Server... in both cases the conversion process proved insurmountable, but it was not possible to persuade the owners that the best thing to do was ditch it and start again...I hope you have better luck.
