In the context of this thread, I doubt that the difference in time would have been noticable. Agree wholeheartedly about explanation/documentation. However, I'd also add that I've seen products who's documentation is a lot worse than VFP's (which I consider to be ok). In fact, I'm trying to get an OLE Automation server running under VFP now, and the doc (what there is of it) for the server is scant, and I'm being very generous with that adjective.
Of course, I consider to VFP's version of xBase very rich, especially in comparison to some other products, such as Problem, er, PowerBuilder. Under the circumstances (and in this context), that very richness may give the impression of additional complexity.
