yes, visual programming an OO were not concieved to go together it just happens that most of the time they do
I just try to say here (in UT) that VFP is a tool that mixes many programming approaches/methodolegies into one product (not always in a smooth or complete way - also not always do they integrate that well)

maybe u can start by subclassing DEs ,Cursor ,relationss as some of the functionality you want is already there
I can send u a newer version of the "DE extractor" where u can have a .h file specifieng what subcalss to use for each original class
e.g. set it to use myDE instead Dataenvironment or Mycursor instead of cursor etc.
the newer version of the DE extractor also lets u specify a name for the new class
