Thanks Hillmar and Erick,
I did try the Into Cursor MyCursor but still had problem updating the grid. The query would run OK and fill the grid when I put it in the load of the form, but when I run the same select statement from a control, the grid inside disappeared.
So I am abandoning that approach and putting the SQL Select right in the Grid Recordsource property. I set the recordsource type to 4 and it all seems to work and update properly. Only problem is I have to include the INTO CURSOR MyCursor in the select statement or the result of the select will show in the form. It appears the NOCONSOLE has no effect. Any Ideas...
TIA
