What system in that MySQL installed? Internal firewall? Via Routers?
The connection speed is NOT normal... I think it is about NAT problem in your server... it seems to me that the connection is waiting for timeout or something... Please check your MySQL server
1. Any firewall, either software (Win XP? Norton?) or hardware
2. Virtual server in your routers?
