it's generally not having a problem opening it, as in my first post the problem occurs ever 100 or so times the code runs, it appears to be some memory leak type issue so I'm going to move all the automation and print code to a separate compiled exe which I will start from my main program for every sheet I need doing, it sounds slow and inneficient but I'll be happy aslong as it works, at very least it should no longer be able to crash my main program.
