Once a particular desktop is selected, all other windows are hidden. Any window is assigned to one desktop; it is also possible to have "global" windows, which appear in all desktops.

Multiple desktops is a wonderful feature of most Linux window managers. I miss it greatly in Windows. Thanks for the tip.

Got a crash course in Cisco routers this weekend. Trying to get a 1720 to talk to a T1 after using the Cisco Configmaker program, and the T1 could not see the router and I could not get the serial interface to come up, I managed to wipe the flash memory. I didn't know the first Cisco IOS command, but now I am loading images and configuring like I've got weeks of experience! }:)
