However long it takes to rewrite the thing in decent fox, then translate it. Way more time than the effort is worth.

Its only a few KB's - whats the problem?

If our positions were reversed - and you challenged me to re-render a little prg like RIO (granted it has a couple ocx's) - I'd make you (err me?) eat them words!!! Especially if it was two weeks before a seminar pitching VFP to NET conversion strategies!!!

Now I am going to google for a book of standards that lists the criteria for a 'decent' fox program so I can better understand your inability to convert a few KBs of VFP code to .NET!

Try this one:
*DecentFoxProgram.prg 2.2.2005 (c) Thurber All Rights Reserved
messagebox("Hello World")
*End of DecentFoxProgram.prg

>>It sounds like a RIO conversion will be a bit more effort than the 'demo' conversions you'll be doing at the seminar.
>>
>>So I'll play: How many hours do you estimate it will take to convert RIO to a satisfactory NET app?
>>
>>
>>>LOL. I haven't failed. I simply choose to ignore your infantile challenge. I'm confident in my abilities and can't be goaded. Grow up. You remind me of my sons when they were teens, "I double dog dare you to do something stupid that doesn't have any bearing on anything", as if I'm susceptible to taunting. Converting your project will not prove a thing other than waste my precious time. Now if you want to pay me to convert it, I will.

>>>>Face it - the concept of VFP to DO(n')T NET conversion is the "air fern" of holey grails. You failed before - and judging by your response - you would fail again!

>>>>>I believe Kevin posted a rather long post, showing how the inherent design flaws in Rio would preclude it being done in .net. We'd have to re-engineer the framework and I have neither the inclination or the time to pursue it.

>>>>>>
>>>>>>I think I understand your frustration! You're still upset about loosing the .NET challenge! Remember (wavy lines and weird music as we fade to a moment in the past) ... and slowly message#919414 resolves to focus.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>As you can see, we've been here before AND DO(n')T NET Lost. If the conversion idea is so cool - take the little "sample" RIO Framework ( download#16575 ), [again] and convert it to DO(n')T NET and then put the SETUP someplace so we can download and evaluate the "conversion".
>>>>>>
>>>>>>It's a simple, small app. and took only a few hours to develop in VFP!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>After all the talking you guys did about the wowy zowy of DO(n')T NET during our last cycle of VFP to DO(n')T NET conversations - you think you would have learned!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Isn't it about time to put-up or shutup on this issue!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>DO(n')T NET is for commoditized infrastructure development. India, Russia and most of those emerging east eurasian countries are full of hard working, intelligent and educated people that will kick our (_|_)'s in that market.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>This is America - creating fantastic software (movies, music, computer programs) is our heritage. Are you ready to be a mindless cube monkey?
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Software development is about independence. Its about competition. We choose and use what we need. It's not the platform. It's not the money (though it can be very rewarding!) - it's about challenging ourselves to be more than we are - its about competition - it'a about inovation! It's about doing it better! It's about sex! It's not about this or that development tool!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>There are no rewards if we limit our aspirations to what it takes to sell our resume to Robert Half or ManPower.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Eurasia will dominate the infrastructure project market. You're kidding yourself if you think you can compete with them. Look at DO('n)T NET as an extension of the OS. Don't view it as a road paved in gold!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>So how about it - are you going to get Kevin to [finally] convert the RIO Framework - or are you going to grumpble in a vain attempt to hide the fact that it can't be done?
>>>>>>
>>>>>>How do I get to Carnigie Hall?
>>>>>>Practice, practice, practice!
Imagination is more important than knowledge
