Thanks for the response.A follow up: BDL is a DOS EXE!
dBase V and then upgraded.I purchased dBase DOS and then immediately went to dBase V (16bit Windows). I even participated in the beta "BladeRunner"
It probably isn't as old as 20 yearsThe liner says 1994:)
There is no sort of validation in th esystem and that is part of what they want me to add in. I assume I can use the old syntax of:
@ x,y GET MyField VALID MyProc
is that right? There is a lot of validation:
@ r,c GET variable [[OPEN]WINDOW (window name)]
[PICTURE (expC)]
[FUNCTION (function list)]
[RANGE [REQUIRED]]
[VALID [REQUIRED] (condition) [ERROR (expC)]]
[WHEN (condition)]
[DEFAULT (expression)]
[MESSAGE (expC)]
[COLOR (standard)/(enhanced)]
The "REQUIRED" clause forces the VALID udf to be called anytime the field is exited. Without out REQUIRED - it only happens the "first" read.
I also found some dBase NEwsGroups so hopefully anything specific I can get answered over there. There was a guy in England - his last name was Serif (i think) - he is part of the dBase2000 project. If you hear from him say hello for me!
If it's worth the effort I could FEDEX what I have. One of our neighbors is an expat (her family lives in Trinidad) - she's a petro engineer - and she has some cool stuff in her house. In exchange - you could ship me a "trinket" from a street curio - nothing fancy - everything in Trinidad is "exotic":)
Email a "snail" to me and I'll get the DOCS and software to you!
