FPW is a WIN16 app. These sort of applications use cooperative multitasking. This means that whatever app has the focus, gets all the CPU time.

However, beginning with Win95, applications use pre-emeptive multitasking. Depending on the OS you should be able to set the compatibility by right-clicking the shortcut.
