Don't jump into a technology simply because its the latest buzzword. Figure out wether you require Transaction server or not. Developing a Client-server application and using a transaction server as a middle ware is contradicting.

VFP works very well with SQL Server. A good start would be to use parameterized remote views. There are lots of frame works available which reduce the effort for initial developement.
