>I miss some things about foxpro for sure. Primarily I miss having 10 years worth of experience with a product and knowing it inside and out. But really, I'm in business to get paid, and foxpro just doesn't pay like it used to. As Danny Devito said "The surest way to grow broke is to grab an increasing share of a declining market..." and that's the foxpro market for sure.

So you look to Danny Devito for inspiration. I'll go with unkown and
reply with "hope springs eternal." As for using VB for a front end to SQL over VFP, I don't think so. Why would I want an inferior product? Also, why would the client really care about what front end you use? I believe in guerilla marketing so I use Access to sell FoxPro. Show a client an access database with 1 million records in it versus a Fox database. Just some simple manipulations will sell the FoxPro system.

As for Fox being legacy, I'm a "part time" consultant with Fox working on new web based systems and server based apps too. I will make more than twice my regular salary using this "legacy" product. As long as it continues to move forward, I don't care that MS doesn't market to my expectations. My experience has been that you can show your clients different platforms and explain the benefits. If you're doing something other than data, sure look elsewhere. But, if it's data your moving around, why go elsewhere. Bottom line though, is use what you are comfortable with and can market. Until something better comes along, I'll stay with Fox. Besides, what other product has as cool a devcon?
