This past week, we passed the halfway mark in the science phase of the mission, which began on 27 August 2004 and is anticipated to last approximately 10 months through the end of June, depending on the supply of superfluid helium in the Dewar.

If I'm understanding the above correctly, the science phase of the mission will finish around the end of June. The data collected will then undergo extensive analysis, before the GB-P folks release the results, which could take so time.

Since the GP-B Satellite transmits data collected back to the mission many times per day, it seems like much of the analysis of data could be taking place in an ongoing basis, so I don't understand why it will take so long to analyze the data before it is released. I remember something about the mission wanting to be very careful in analyzing the data, so as not to reach any wrong conclusions, and to provided iron clad evidence, to a naturally skeptical scientific community, of the findings, which, no doubt, will be used for many many years to come.
