Rick,
>>Cursors do offer great flexibility but only inside of VFP. If you need to move the data outside of VFP and they are a burden...
Huh?
I have no idea how a Sharp 4-head video differs from my Panasonic 1-head video. They both play videos. If Sharp uses a proprietary technology inside, who cares, as long as it plays OK and doesn't break.
Same with cursors. I get data into cursors, work on them, and send the data back out. Whether the data is handled by a cursor, ADO.NET or an abacus, who cares, as long as it plays OK and doesn't break. There is no "burden" that I can see.
The day that VFP is unable to participate according to industry interoperation standards, I'll agree with you. That day isn't here yet.
Regards

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
