Actually all forms of "code cutting" will be increasingly exposed to this risk as development becomes a commodity. The true survivors will be those who can demonstrate some sort of distinct business offering apart from their preferred development tool. Sure there will be some here who will demonstrate business expertise in a particular development tool, becoming MVPs, authors and speakers. Others need to develop some other domain expertise so they too can disttinguish themselves from the commodity morass. IMHO if people are to be advised to "jump horses", it is a good time to examine not just the horse but the direction in which it is galloping. Lots of people here could become Project Leaders and similar, with better pay and more security. and no need to slave weekends learning the latest greatest tool. ;-) JMHO.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
