I am not sure how the data compression in VFP works. But data compression in general has a tendency to have a variable compression ratio. Some data can be compressed better than others.

Two "billion", according to the manual. As used in the U.S., a billion means 1000 million. (In many other countries, a "billion" is a million millions.)
