Welcome aboard. This is the web and the messages are HTML. IN HTML spaces mean nothing and are just stripped away, that is unless you surround the section with a "Less than symbol" PRE "greater Than symbol" and end the section with "less than Symbol" /PRE "greater than symbol" like the following code segment is using those html tags;
IF I was rich
I would not need to write as much code each day
ELSE
I would need to write more code each day
ENDIF
