Hi,

Depends on what OS will host your website. If you use Linux, there is no other way than Apache/PHP/MySQL. I've read the other messages and they mention PostreSQL and Firebird. However, the vast majority of the websites hosted on Linux use MySQL, and I am pretty sure they have a reason to do that.

If your site will be hosted on Windows, then you should go for MSDE (or MS SQL) and ASP.NET or ASP. While is possible to install and run Windows distributions of Apache, PHP and MySQL, they discourage that, mostly because of security reasons.
