Is it possible that you're using macro expansion in the code and the the field name is getting on the wrong side of an equals sign?

In the prior line of code we check to make sure it is open. In the same method (before the error occurs), we execute a seek and then an RLOCK on the same table. In the debugger the column is, of course, visible, and if we Set Next Statement back to the line that errors, it executes normally.
