If you select an index that wasn't created as part of a constraint you should be able to remove it. You may need to run the ALTER TABLE command to drop and re-create constraints.

I would recommend pushing the approval process forward as fast as you can. This SP includes some important fixes. Unlike some SPs, Microsoft recommends installing this SP even if you haven't experienced any of the problems it fixes.
