>i need a bit of help on a wierd one. in our application we allow you to save a picture into a general field in the table. on my local machine this works fine. i can see the picture in the table behind the scenes and i can display it on a screen. however when i copy it up to a customers server and view it all i get is an icon instead of the image. i have gone as far as to copy my set of files where it works fine up to their server and try that. in this case anything i did on my pc works fine but anything new that i add does not. this has me really stumped so any ideas are very much appreciated.

As said in this thread, it is not a good idea to save images (or binaries) in General fields. Try to avoid these fields at all costs. Before VFP 9, the recommended way is to save a path/filename in a char field and save the image on disk. In VFP9 there is now the BLOB field type that finally allows you to properly save images (or binaries) in a dbf.
