ADO is not the same of ADO.NET -at all. They just share some OleDB technology.

ADO is a COM technology. Using COM from Java is possible but not commonly done, and it has a lot of problems.

ADO.Net is not a COM technology, and using it from Java is not trivial neither. There are complex and expensive products to allow you to interoperate (at component call level) between Java and .NET.

In both cases, this is something made in the most extremely needed cases, since usually interoperation is easily done using Web Services, HTTP streams, or plain FTP or file system exchange.
