Well, there aren't as many speaking French as there are French speaking English, I think (and certainly not a patch on the Dutch/Flemish and Germans, Icelenders etc.), and many who do, speak it with a decidedly English accent. Though, having visited France many times, I haven't discovered a great prevalence of anglophones.
Myself, I have a knack and a love for languages, and I bothered to remember and practice my French, such that my school peers won't remember half of what I do. I also spent a summer selling chou-chou, glaces et baignet au pomme on the beaches of south France (that's where I picked up a smattering of Dutch) - I used to
wake up> in French then! :-)
