I believe I got answer for Hugo on how to get the SMART HD serial number for XP.
How about a way for windows 2000, 98 do anyone know of how to do it??

>Every hard disk has two serial numbers, one printed, and one electronic. The serial number which is printed on the hard disk can NOT be read electronically, no matter what other people may say. The electronic serial number may be read, though. I believe you have already been given advice to how.
