Unfortunately, the only thing that would happen is the re-establishment of your connection, not the re-opening of files on the server. You could also test for this in your application and re-open if necessary. Very easy to do.

I thought that might be the case. Easiest thing for me to do upon detecting network failure is wait until it's back up, then executing a new instance of my program and terminating the current one.
