Actually, nobody mentioned anything like

lcString=stuff(lcString, atc(lcWord, lcString), len(lcWord), "")

...though that would work as well, if the word really is contained in the string. Unfortunately, if it's not, atc() returns zero, and stuff() treats that as 1, so this would then eat first len(lcWord) characters from lcString.
