[SNIP}... In Quebec a KFC is a PFK (poulet frite Kentucky or some such)
>
>I recall it's now just "KFC without any meaning and the acronym doesn't mean anything", because state of Kentucky complained (or sued). They didn't want the people to get the idea that what KFC sells has anything to do with the state.

That would explain why a few years ago it all became just KFC. It may mean nothing but don't you find it suspicious that they are the initials of the old name? :-) ... and that the "C" was replaced with "P" in the Q. version, which just happens to stand for the French for chicken, and in the right syntactical order?
Besides, if KFC is meaningless, why can't it stay the same and be equally meaningless in Q?

And don't you mean: "...They didn't want the people to get the idea that what KFC sells has anything to do with CHICKEN"? :-)

>I've recently seen an ad of theirs where it was meant to mean "kitchen fresh chicken", but they seem to have given up on it really fast. Or they stopped paying extra to be run in the first five seconds of a commercial block (which is the max that it takes me to find Bowman's switch on the remote).

What's a "Bowman's switch" - not an expression I've heard over here, to do with TVs?
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
