That could be interesting. Players having to justify what they ask for and owners not able to offer more than what the player's worth.

But could it really be that easy?

You won't need a salary cap and the NHL will have the balance of power in the negociation (think Wal-Mart). Not that I like Wal-Mart (I hate them as a matter of fact), but you would have a really hard time convincing me that you deserve to be a millionaire. And that goes for any kind of job you do.
