>>Hi Joe,

>>To add to what Rick told you, for a multiuser environment if using Access97 you might want to look into it's replication features. Benefits to this would be the users could work faster because system is local and only access server to replicate (sync up their local copy with the server copy) and if ever needed users with notebooks can use the system while away from the office.
>>
>>As a side note: If the system you are creating for them is relatively small to medium in size (especially in relation to the projected amount of data it must handle) then Access may be fine. If the requirements are going to be bigger I would suggest going with VFP and then going the ODBC route if integration is needed with existing Access apps. Food for thought HTH.

>Thanks. I considered that as a possiblilty (ODBC) and even advised that it would be possible to integrate the two systems this way in the future. But the idea is that if the two companies merged, so would the systems. So, some features of one may be kept and some of the other. ActiveX servers could be created in VFP too. The bottom line is that I pushed VFP. There was a little resistance, but I convinced them that VFP would be a better choice. Anyways, now they came back with this concern. The other company told the owner that VFP wouldn't handle graphics as well as Access. I said VFP has access to a wide array of ActiveX controls as well as native VFP controls that will do what they need. But, I agreed to proceed in Access. They are the boss. I don't want to get into a situation where they say "We should have went with Access." I don't mind getting into a situation where they say "We should have gone with FoxPro."

BG (This is a $$/hour contract. I think I will end up making more developing in Access than developing in VFP)

You hit the nail on the head. You can suggest VFP (or any other language for that matter) all you want but in the end the client is the boss and, wrong or right, if they want Access they get Access. Good luck with the project.
