I am installing ASP.NET application for a new customer. As a test,
I am asking them to run a very simple TEST.ASPX page which has no
code but simply displays a static text. And we cannot make this
page to show.
The error message we (the customer) is getting is as following:
Parser Error Message: it is an error to use a section registere as
allowDefinition='MachinteToApplication' beyound application level.
This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being
configured as an application in IIS.
The error then points to the following line in web.config:
<authentication mode="None" />
We tried to change the mode to Windows but still the same result.
I checked the properties of the virtual directory (talking to the
customer on the telephone), and they all seem to be the same as I
have on my PC.
What else can we check for this error?
Thank you.
