Glenn,
>I have been crankin code for over 35 years<You have me beat by a few years, but not too many. <g>
>and hope to attain the same level of competence in .Net as I have in VFP. It is very suprising that even the simplest of tasks such as this are challenging.<I think that it seems challenging just because it's different than what you're used to. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it before too long. I've been doing C# for 3 years now, so I hope I know more or less what I'm talking about, but ya never know. <g>
>Believe me neophytes like myself appreciate your expert assistance.<Thanks! However, as far as ASP.NET goes, if you're starting off with that, you won't get too much more help from me, except for simple things that apply to both WebForms and WinForms. I do predominantly WinForms and have only dabbled with WebForms. But, not to worry ... there are plenty of others here who are WebForm experts.

>Thank you so much Bonnie. I have been crankin code for over 35 years, but only recently decided to make the move to .NET. I have over three feet of .NET books, and hope to attain the same level of competence in .Net as I have in VFP. It is very suprising that even the simplest of tasks such as this are challenging.
