It's been mentioned here in this forum specifically products like Opera's web browser, wow an executable on a floppy - when was the last time you heard of that ! The bloat of some of todays code is staggering and MS is the worst offender...For a real refreshing look at something check out BeOS ( if you can handle it ) a 64 bit operating system that puts NT and 95 to shame ( limited apps, but screw it write your own ). My NT system takes 30 seconds to boot, the same system with BeOS takes only 8 and runs faster. With the coming of Java (albeit slow) and downloadable active X components, Windows CE, palmtops etc. maybe we will see a return to when programmers really begin to consider tight code that is quick simple and efficeint ( hoping the development environments remain as easy and GUI as todays)

Non-M$ products i.e. PB, Delphi, etc. offers some degree of advantages (although VFP offers the same), but IMHO, these products do not have Knowledge Base support worldwide specially that of Oracles which is more on "Prestige" thing because its too expensive. Prices of these products are almost 5x higher than that of M$ that’s why only a few can afford to buy it. Then how about those SME’s aspiring to automate their system, considering that companies these plays a very important role on every country’s economy. I do not know the reason why these big companies are embracing such development tools wherein it cost them more than triple just to complete the system.

The reason why I posted this kind of topic on UT is that I want to gather ideas or inputs from respected developers worldwide to substantiate our claim that VFP is a better tool in database development because our prospective client that sued one software company due to failure of delivering the product, is wavering whether to continue the VB/SQL Server or shift to other front-end, and there, VFP came into the picture though us.

Anyway, TIA to all astounding ideas so far. I am expecting for more inputs…
