>>Hi Alex

>>I'll go one step further. For arguement sake, lets say America is a Christian nation. What other religion would allow such freedom and prosperity that we have compare to other countries? Christians may disagree with what you do, but they certainly don't persecute you for it... do they?

>Dean,
>I'm wouldn't attribute Christianity with 'freedom and prosperity'. The world's largest democracy, India, does not have a Christian "base". Japan, surely a successful and propserous nation, does NOT have Christianity as a major religion even yet. South Korea is doing pretty well similarly. And Indonesia, while it has a ways to go, is well underway. Turkey is even further along.

I didn't say the Christianity was the reason for our freedom and prosperity. I said Christian values.

I can understand you mentioning Japan and Korea (both of which you would be surprised how many Christians there actually are, and growing), but India? I've been to India. They are still struggling to get out of 19th century.
Been to India lately?

>On the other hand, I'd bet that there are more millionaires in China than there are in the U.S. They've managed to get rich on the backs of their brothers and sisters without religion at all BUT by exploiting their labour for the benefit of Christian (and non-Christian) nations around the world.

You're probably right. I wouldn't say they run their country base on "Christian" values.
