I'll have to check to see if I have access to CNN World today. Although I am one of those who receives that majority of their news from Jon Stewart.
What client for broadband? I don't have any Comcast s/w loaded.
I believe that a current salespitch from DirectTV is the availability of more HD content. I would assume that the launching of the new satellite is to allow for continued superiority. I own a Samsung and purchased the HD package from Comcast. I receive 3 movie channels, Discovery, ESPN and most local stations. There are at least 4 other channels I could have, not counting HDNet and INDNet. Such as TNT, ESPN2, NFL Network and one local channel not currently received in HD. Another satellite would give DirectTV ability to carry all these channels in HD.
>>It was just last week that the purchase went thru. I read about it in WSJ. But for the life of me, I can't remember who the purchaser was. I just remember that it's not Comcast.

Why don't you like TW?>Not an equity issue. Their news outfit (CNN) - and the other NYC outlets have been not been doing their job. Ever since the FCC gave away "our" bandwith - it seems there has been a conspiracy of disinformation (don't get me started!)

>In my market - CNN World Today (less bias and fewer Micheal Jackson Stories) was moved to a premium bandwidth - and citizens without premium service can only get the tripe fed by CNN, FOX.CBNBC and MSNBC.

>Also - the COMCAST client for broadband (includes roadrunner and SBC) is full of spyware!

>These guys need to be broke up - they're turning us into mindless tinsel consumers:)

I don't have satelite. But I would think they do offer 1080i. DirectTv just launched a satellite whose purpose is to carry up to 1,000 HD channels.>
>A 1000!? Where is all that bandwith coming from?
>
>HD TV is great - and - like the the mindless-tinsel consumer I am - I acquired a bad-a?? SONY!
