And as far as C/S goes, everyone usually seeks a more direct approach to the SQL backend than ODBC, which VFP does not provide out the box as Borland's C/S products do...

First of all, Jet is history. With ADO and OLE-DB you can get at *ANY* type of data. Got an ASCII Text file? No problem! SQL-Server? No problem! Oracle? No problem. We'll see more data formats supported using OLE-DB...it really is a great technology...and it is better than BDE (yes, I've looked into BDE).

Someone suggested looking at the Be-OS. I've looked at it and like it alot, but I can't just drop it in. I work in a world-wide corporation and have to follow corporate standards, which right now are Netware, NT, Win95. Putting in something like Be-OS would be close to impossible right now.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not "drinking the Kool-Aid". I think Borland...and other companies make great products. They have a place and are needed.

I've rambled enough...I need to get back to work so I can get on that plane tonight and head to Orlando.
