Hi Cetin:

There has been a bit of a delay with my testing, rewriting the web service and the pocketpc program and then re-testing everything.

It still fails everything using (tiger2, tiger2.mydomain.co.nz, tiger2.domain.local and static ip address) in the url. They all stop at the same place, previously mentioned. With the static ip address in

this.url = http://static_ip/mywebservices/myws.asmx

I got a new error message:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.Net.Sockets.SocketException' 
occurred in System.dll
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I don't know whether that is progress or not!

For the moment, I have run out of options.
